Welcome to a one-of-a-kind adventure in Cameroon, where we invite you to go to a journey through lands rich in diversity, where each corner reveals a new facet of culture and nature. Beyond its majestic mountains and lush forests, there are cultural treasures and living traditions. Cameroon opens the doors to lively cities, preserved national parks and warm communities.

The mission of this tour is to provide you with a transformative experience, one that broadens your horizons and leaves a lasting impact. Join us on this extraordinary voyage and discover the beauty, resilience, and indomitable spirit of Cameroon.
We are suggesting a 17-day program for this tour. The tour can be shortened or extended upon your requests.
Our suggested itinery starts in Douala from where we will explore two of Cameroon’s regions: the Southwestern Region and the Northern Region. Throughout the whole tour there will be sessions on cultural, historic and political aspects and current affairs relevant for the respective area and facilitated by our guides.
From Douala we will travel by bus to Limbe in the Southwestern Region. From here we will visit different locations along the coast, including Mount Cameroon, the former Slave Trade Village Bimbia, and beautiful coastal towns and beaches.
Our next region to explore will be the Northern Region that we will reach by flight from Douala to Garoua. Our days in the North will be filled with engagements with local communities, experiences with the local culture and learning about current affairs and social dynamics. We will learn about the socio-cultural dynamics in the North from a University lecturer. After seeing the city Garoua and visiting the local craftsmen and sculptors, a women’s cooperative will introduce us to the processes of Shea Butter production in Ngong. There will also be time for relaxation on the Lake Lagdo where we will where we will enjoy the lake’s natural beauty, experience the life of fishing communities, taste fresh fish and relax on the beach. Our journey will continue to Poli, where we will interact with an awareness raising initiative on local mining and its impact on the community; we will also interact with the Bororo people and visit the Lamidat. From here, we will continue our journey to Wangai and do a trek in the Mount Atlantika area that is an extension of the Cameroon line of volcanic mountains, spanning the border between Nigeria and Cameroon. In this area we will also visit a village of the Koma people and will immerse ourselves in their daily life activities.
One of the highlights of this tour is a visit to Rey Bouba where we will try to meet the Lamido in his chiefdom. A cultural briefing will introduce us to the local culture, traditions and the function of the Lamidat that is a major witness to the history of Islam in Cameroon.
Upon return to Garoua, we will meet with the WCO’s Sahré Djabbama shelter and have discussions on their youth reintegration initiative.
On our last day before returning to Douala, we will visit the city Guider, close to the border to Chad, where we will learn about the role of this city in migration movements and visit the rocky passage and natural masterpiece ‘Gorge de Kola’ that is referred to as ‘the small radius of Cameroon’ as well as the archaeological site of Bidzar that displays ancient drawings/carvings on white marbles.
After flying back to Douala, we will have a free day here. There is the option to visit the local crafts market. The next day, visitors will be taken to Douala International Airport for departure.
The tour will be accompanied by one guide who will stay with the group throughout the whole tour and additionally to that by a guide who specializes in the respective region.
In collaboration with our coordinator and experienced guides in Cameroon we are monitoring the security situation closely, especially in the Northern Region. In case there is any reason for concern, we have an alternative program in place for each day that promises equally interesting

Arrival in Douala, pick-up from Douala International Airport, transfer to hotel, orientation and briefing about the tour, welcome dinner with the group
Upon arrival at Douala International Airport, we will be warmly welcomed by our guides and transferred to the hotel, where we will be able to relax and get ready for the exciting journey ahead. The tour guides will brief us about the tour program, and we will have dinner together.
Road trip to Limbe, Limbe Botanic Garden, Cultural session
After breakfast, we will take the bus to Limbe in the Southwest of Cameroon, about 3 hours from Douala, where we will stay for the next few days. Limbe is a splendid town surrounded by miles of lush greenery with a view of the Atlantic Ocean and Mount Cameroon in the background, with beautiful black and grey sandy beaches, many islands, and Botanical Park and the historical site of Bimbia. Limbe, formerly known as Victoria, was founded in 1858 by an English Baptist Missionary called Alfred Saker. The road from the economic capital Douala to Limbe passes through beautiful rubber, palm, and banana plantations.
Upon arrival in Limbe, we will have a city tour and visit the Limbe Botanic Garden to relax and appreciate the diversity of nature.
Before dinner at the hotel, we will have a cultural session, where our guides will introduce us to the history and culture of the region and sites that we will be visiting during our stay in Limbe.
Road trip to Idenau, Seme Beach, Debuncha
Today we will take the bus to the coastal town, Idenau. We will visit the beautiful Seme Beach and have a taste of fresh sea fish for lunch.
Afterwards, we will visit the coastal town Debuncha at the bottom of Mount Cameroon. Debuncha is the place with the most rain in Africa and among the five places with the most rain worldwide. We will return to Limbe for dinner.
Road trip to Buea, Mount Cameroon, Golden Jubilee Monument
After breakfast in Limbe, the bus will take us to the town Buea. Here, we will visit the Golden Jubilee Monument that was built to commemorate the Reunification of Cameroon.
In the afternoon, we will visit Mount Cameroon, also called ‘Lava Mountain’, or Fako (the name of the higher of its two peaks) or its indigenous name Mongo ma Ndemi (“Mountain of Greatness”). With 4.095 m hight, it is the tenth highest mountain in Africa and an active volcano that was formed by an eruption.
We will return to Limbe for dinner and will enjoy the city’s nightlife.
Road trip to Bimbia, Slave Trade Village in Bimbia
In the morning, we will drive to the town Bimbia, where we will visit the former Slave Trade Village, that is classified as the largest slave deportation site in Africa. We will be guided through the village and learn about this dark part of Cameroon’s history.
After lunch, the second part of the day will be free to further explore Bimbia or visit the ALCEF amusement park (optional activity, not part of the program).
We will return to Limbe for dinner and share our impressions of the past days.
City tour Limbe, beach, Limbe Wildlife Centre, Cultural session
On our last day in Limbe, we will enjoy the beach before moving away from the coastal region.
Later in the day, we will visit the Limbe Wildlife Centre, that has been working for 30 years to protect wildlife under threat. The Centre engages in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, educational initiatives, and community programs to conserve Cameroon’s unique wildlife heritage.
In the evening, we will have a cultural session where our guides will introduce us to the regions and sites that we will visit during the upcoming days, the regions’ history, and culture.
Roadtrip to Douala, flight to Garoua
Early in the morning, we will go back to Douala by bus. From here, we will take a flight to Garoua, the capital of the Northern Region and the third largest city in Cameroon.
We will spend the night in the mission station in Garoua.
Lecture on Northern Region, city tour, visit to craftsmen and sculptors
After breakfast at the mission station, we will have a presentation on the socio-cultural dynamics of the Northern Region by a university lecturer and discussions.
In the afternoon, we will do a tour of the city of Garoua and visit local craftsmen and sculptors and discuss with them.
We will return to the mission station for the night.

After breakfast at the mission station, we will have a presentation on the socio-cultural dynamics of the Northern Region by a university lecturer and discussions.
In the afternoon, we will do a tour of the city of Garoua and visit local craftsmen and sculptors and discuss with them.
We will return to the mission station for the night.
Visit to Shea Butter production in Ngong, Lagdo, Blue Lagoon
Today we will drive to Ngong, where we will visit the Shea Butter production (mahogany nut processing) of a women’s cooperation and exchange with them. Afterward, we will drive to Lagdo, where we will have lunch by Lake Lagdo. We recommend the specialty braised fish. In the afternoon we will visit a fishing village and relax at the Blue Lagoon of the Lake, where we can enjoy the beach and swimming.
We will return to Garoua for the night.
Poli, Celpro Initiative, Poli market and Bororo people, Lamidat
On this day, we will travel to Poli. We will meet with Celpro here – a group set up to raise awareness and protect local residents from mining activities in an area where uranium is mined.
We will have lunch with the local nuns.
In the afternoon we will visit the Poli market and the Bororo people to learn about their culture and will also visit the Lamidat.
We will have dinner with the nuns and spend the night either at the municipal complex or with the nuns in Poli.
Wangai, Mount Atlantika, Villages of Koma
After breakfast in Poli, we will travel to Wangai and trek in the Mount Atlantika area. This mountainous region is an extension of the Cameroon line of volcanic mountains, spanning the border between Nigeria and Cameroon. It is home to the Koma people. We will visit their villages, will be introduced to their traditions, visit their huts, and immerse ourselves in their daily life activities.
We will return to Poli for the night.
Rey Bouba, Market of Rey Bouba, Chiefdom (Lamido) and village, Cultural briefing
Early in the morning we will travel to Rey Bouba and check in to our hotel. After a tour of the city, we will visit the market of Rey Bouba.
After lunch in the city, we will continue to the chiefdom and the village where we might be able to meet the Lamido. Here we will learn about the local culture, traditions and the function of the Lamidat. The Lamidat is a major witness to the history of Islam in Cameroon. It was built under the reign of Bouba Ndjidda during the period from 1805 to 1808. He and his Fulani warriors settled on the banks of the Mayo-Rey river. Structurally, the Lamidat of Rey- Bouba can be compared to the royal palaces of Abomey. It constitutes the heritage of customary power and has undeniable historical, cultural, social, and educational values. It has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is forbidden to take pictures inside the Lamidat, only outside pictures can be authorized on condition of requesting the Baba’s secretary through a security guard.
We will return to the hotel for dinner and will be briefed by our guides about the contexts of the regions and sites that we will visit during the next few days.
We will return to Poli for the night.
Garoua, WCO's Sahré Djabbama shelter
Early in the morning, we will travel back to Garoua.
After lunch in Garoua, we will meet with the WCO’s Sahré Djabbama shelter and have discussions on the youth reintegration project and the cooperation between state and non-state actors working in Garoua prison.
We will spend the night at the mission station.
Guider, Bidzar, Gorges de Kola
In the morning, we will travel to the city Guider, close to the border to Chad. Guider plays a role in migration movements of the region. We will be briefed on this context during a tour of the city.
After lunch, we will visit the archaeological site of Bidzar that displays ancient drawings/carvings on white marbles dating over 300 years and the Gorges of Kola. The Kola Gorges are made of rocks polished by water flow, a natural masterpiece. This rocky passage of 700 m long and 200 m wide is called “the small radius of Cameroon”.
On our way to returning to Garoua, we might make a detour to the market of Pitoa and spend the night in Garoua.
Flight to Douala, free day/shopping in Douala
Early in the morning, we will take a flight back to Douala and will enjoy a free day here. Those who are interested in shopping will be taken to the market for handcraft items.
We will spend the night in a hotel in Douala and reflect together on the tour and the experiences we made.

Visitors will depart from Douala International Airport. Those who are staying in the country for extended activities will be assisted with their transfer to their respective location
