Mombasa is the second largest city in Kenya, situated on the Indian Ocean, on Mombasa Island and extending up to the mainland. The original Arabic name is Manbasa; in Kiswahili it is called Kisiwa Cha Mvita (or Mvita for short), which means “Island of War”, due to the many changes in its ownership and the battles that brought about the changes in ownership. Mombasa is bestowed with beautiful white sandy beaches and a deep historical and cultural heritage, which is why it is the centre of the coastal tourism industry.

With this Mombasa extension package, we will organize your transportation to and from Mombasa as well as your accommodation in Mombasa. One of the guides familiar to you from the Footsteps & Handshakes tour will take you to the bus or train that will take you to Mombasa. Upon arrival, a local guide will pick you up and take you to your accommodation. He/she will be available to assist you during your stay in Mombasa – this includes providing you with advice and possibly accompanying you to one or two of the above attractions. After your 5-days stay, the guide will take you to the bus or train that will take you back to Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be picked up and taken to the airport by your familiar tour guides.
