Tinevimbo Children’s Project and Life Skill Training Centre is based in Mutare, close to the border to Mozambique. It is a voluntary community organization that supports vulnerable orphans and children living with HIV/AIDS from extremely vulnerable families. The project supports 186 children living in the high-density suburbs Sakubva, Dangamvura, Chikanga and Hobhouse. The Project caters for children’s needs in terms of Health, Education and Nutrition. Tinevimbo Children’s Project and Life Skill Training Centre offers life skill courses to disadvantaged youths in the communities. Currently the project is offering Catering which is a 3 months course and Sewing which is a 6 months course.

Currently 17 voluntary workers from the community are engaged in different activities of the organization.

The activities of Tinevimbo Project include:

    • Care for people affected by HIV/AIDS through home visits by caregivers,
    • Counselling for children and adults affected by HIV/AIDS,
    • Payment of school fees (i.e. primary and secondary) and school equipment for children affected by poverty or other emergencies,
    • Conducting regular trainings for volunteers,
    • Providing a social meeting place for people to get to know each other and exchange information,
    • Medical individual case assistance,
    • Distribution of food for families affected by poverty,
    • Organising leisure activities for children and young people (i.e. art, dance, sport),
    • Provision of the church premises for workshops, training, self-help groups and family celebrations,
    • Providing Life Skill and vocational training Courses (tailoring, catering),
    • Girls clubs, Boys clubs and camps.

Internship roles include:

    • Assisting the voluntary caregivers in-home visits for needs assessment and support visits,
    • Minute and report writing,
    • Preparing presentations for meetings,
    • Facilitating children’s Saturday activities as psychosocial support,
    • Facilitating in the monthly voluntary and primary caregiver educational meetings,
    • Assisting in any other activities of the organisation.

    *1 Confirm entry conditions with the Zimbabwean Embassy of your country.
